Kilchurn Castle

Kilchurn Castle is a must-visit destination whilst in Argyll. It is a 15th century castle (now ruins) that is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland. It sits surrounded by water and is a majestic sight to see when travelling through the area. There are plenty of chances to try several walking routes around the castle, all whilst enjoying the views.

Why visit Kilchurn Castle?

Visiting this castle is necessary, although it is having conservation work done it is still worth taking a wander to see the ruins of this once formidable castle. It was owned by the Campbell clan and was a powerful asset for their family to have in the local area. Although now not lived in due to fire it still lies in a prominent space in the landscape. Looking across the water of Loch Awe, where it is perched offers a great opportunity for wildlife watching and photography.

Where to Eat & Drink

Nearby is the popular Ben Cruachan Inn pub and restaurant offering hot and cold lunch and dinner options using local suppliers (please see their website for seasonal opening times).
