Scotland’s Coasts and Waters will be showcased throughout 2020. Oban joins in the celebration with a plethora of attractions, events and accommodation that highlights the fantastic opportunities to get out on the water on a visit to the area.
The year, led by VisitScotland, we will sustain and build upon the momentum of Scotland’s preceding Themed Years to spotlight, celebrate and promote opportunities to experience and enjoy Oban's unrivalled Coasts and Waters, encouraging responsible engagement and participation from the people of Scotland and our visitors. A year-long programme of events, activities and ideas will shine a spotlight on the impact our waters have had on Scotland, from the formation of beautiful natural features to the creation of our national drink – whisky.
Oban is one of Britain's busiest harbours, and the name Argyll means "Coast of the Gaels" so there will be lots to highlight this year, from our fantastic berthing facilities and ferry connections, to our breathtaking coastal scenery and world class seafood. You can get out on the water by ferry, kayak, boat or cruise ship, or in the water by wild swimming, scuba diving and stand up paddle board. And if you are a landlubber, don't worry- you can simply enjoy the views while savouring some of the world's best seafood, pier to plate.
Watch this space as we shine the spotlight on West Coast Waters Oban & Lorn 2020!
