Airds Hotel and Restaurant- Luxury in an Unparalleled Setting

Jul 09, 2018

Whether you are looking to celebrate a special occasion, or simply want to experience the grandeur of Argyll in style, the award winning Airds Hotel and Restaurant in Port Appin offers luxury in an unparalleled setting.

Named “The Most Romantic Hotel in Scotland” by the Good Hotel Guide, as well as the Sunday Times’ number one for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast, along with other top accolades, Airds is a favourite for luxury anniversary weekends, Highland breaks and that special lunch or dinner with a loved one.

Its location is also stunning, with gorgeous views over the loch and convenient access to the area’s fascinating sites and experiences.

Owner Shaun McKivragan and his wife, Jenny, bought Airds 15 years ago and have lovingly developed it into a luxurious jewel of the Highlands.  The atmosphere is one of relaxed elegance, and, indeed, the staff are attentive but not overly formal. Staying at Airds is a treat, whether in one of their 11 uniquely designed bedrooms and suites or in their luxury self-catering holiday cottage.

The three AA Rosette restaurant has been featured in the Good Food Guide, the Michelin Guide and has achieved a Gold Award with Eat Scotland. Head Chef Chris Stanley takes full advantage of the local larder for his seasonal menus, from shellfish to freshly caught fish, sustainably raised poultry and game to cheeses. Chris’ ethos is uncomplicated, and he lets the natural goodness of the ingredients shine through.

Dinner is a candlelight affair, while Sunday lunch is always a special occasion, with traditional favourites and all the trimmings. Lunch in the garden is a pleasure in the summer, or you can treat yourself to Airds’ famous full afternoon tea, which features a variety of treats, teas and an indulgent glass of M.Maillart Premier Cru Champagne.

Before or after dinner, you can relish a malt whisky from the extensive collection in the whisky bar, or relax by the fire one of their two lounges. The restaurant is open to non-residents daily for morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. It is advisable to book in advance by telephoning 01631 730236.
