Welcome to Oban - the Seafood Capital of Scotland!

If you are planning a visit to Oban and Lorn on Scotland's west coast, this is the site for you. The Oban & Lorn Tourism Alliance Ltd has put together information on the scenery, landscapes and seascapes and the numerous activities that can be enjoyed in the ancient district of Lorn in the historic country of Argyll.

There are also accommodation lists for hotels, guesthouses, B&Bs and self catering properties in and around Oban as well as a wealth of information on places to eat, attractions and local shops and services. These directories can also be found within the Oban and Lorn sections of the regional tourism website Explore Argyll should you require information on the whole area.

We love Oban and we hope you will too!

Skim Your Best, Beat the Rest!

The International Stone Skimming Championships will be held on Easdale Island near Oban on Sunday September 23, bringing hopefuls from around the globe for a weekend of fun and competition on the smallest permanently-inhabited island of the Inner Hebrides.

As one of the Slate Islands, Easdale was mined until the 20thcentury, leaving behind deep pools and an endless supply of perfectly shaped pieces of slate, ideal for skimming. So where better to hold the international championships!

See how your stone skimming skills measure up against competitors from all over the world, who vie for prizes in various categories. Open to kids and adults, there is a maximum of 350 entrants, so arrive early as registration begins at 10am. There will be family fun all day, including a BBQ and live music. The fun kicks off Saturday night with a concert at Easdale Island Community Hall by Sheelanagig.
