Ocean Explorer Centre
Learn lots about marine life in the waters around Oban at the Ocean Explorer Centre. This is a great, small but informative exhibition with plenty of activities to keep the family of all ages amused and captivated on a wet day on the West Coast. It is part of the SAMS university campus and is a great public resource connected to the research Centre.
Why visit the Ocean Explorer Centre
- There are regular changing activities such as quizzes, treasure hunts and wordsearches all connected to different marine life such as Crabs, Porpoises and Starfish.
- Static exhibits such as the cinema room with the latest marine films and documentaries.

- Onsite café next to the Ocean Explorer Centre. This offers classic Scottish Full Breakfasts, light lunches such as soups, jacket potatoes, burgers, and cake options. It offers a selection of hot and cold drinks.

The large leisure Centre run by the community is perfect for a rainy day. Go for a swim in the pool, play squash or pickleball, explore the outdoor adventure playground or simply relax at the cafe.

Dunollie Castle and the Dogstone are a fantastic way to spend a day in Oban.

Just down the road from the main beach, spend a day out at Wee Ganavan Sands. Build sand castle, explroe rock pools have a picnic or go for a dip!
