The Modern Croft

The Modern Croft is a physical and online store located in Oban on Scotland's beautiful west coast. The store stocks a carefully curated, cohesive collection of household and lifestyle goods from Scotland and beyond.   

Whilst heritage and location certainly inform some of the design choices of the store's owner, Isabella,  they certainly do not define them. Beautiful things from Scotland sit alongside equally beautiful goods from beyond our shores, which may have no obvious Scottish identity but do share a common connection to carefully considered and well-crafted design. The Modern Croft range is also shaped by Isabella's personal design influences, including her love of simple geometric shapes, well-designed functional items, mid-century furniture, and the modern-day Scandinavian design aesthetic. The underlying feel is unfussy and clean but includes bold graphics and pops of colour against a largely neutral backdrop.  

Isabella has brought together a range of decorative and functional items that will appeal to those who value considered design, thoughtful craftsmanship, and an interest in where and how their goods have been created.
