Three singers, from three dierent countries, come together to present a unique repertoire that will take the audience on a musical journey through Nordic climes, from the frozen fjords and snow-covered forests of Scandinavia to the wild shores of the Scottish Hebridean islands, in a true celebration of the Nordic winter.
he vocal trio - EMMA GORDON (Scotland), MEREL VAN DIJK (Netherlands) and BARBARA ERAMO (Italy) - combine traditional melodies with original compositions, in a variety of languages and polyphonies.
Meet the Band
Barbara Eramo
A singer, songwriter and musician from Puglia, in 1998 she won the Critics' Award and Best Performance Award at Sanremo with the Eramo & Passavanti project and has released four albums under her own name. Over the years she has collaborated with Nicola Piovani, Louis, Bacalov, Ivan Lins, Hector Zazou, Alexandre Desplat, Pivio & Aldo De Scalzi.
In theatre, she has worked with Manuela Mandracchia, Pamela Villoresi, Massimo Popolizio, Giancarlo Giannini, Michele Placido and others. She recently sang at the Quirinale for the celebration of "Memorial Day, in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and at the Circus Maximus with the Kitonb company for New Year's Eve in Rome.
Emma Gordon
Born in 1986, this Scottish singer-songwriter and performer has been living in Italy for 15 years. She was born and raised in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull and has had a passion for singing since she was a child, inspired by traditional folk music melodies.
She soon embarked on a journey of musical exploration, studying opera, pop and musical theatre singing alongside her school studies.
After graduating with a degree in languages and literature, she moved to Rome where she continued her international career. With her celtic folk duo Fuarn, she has just launched an E.P. of original music, entitled Carry Me, Cold Water: a love letter to the shores of her native Hebrides.
Merel Van Dijk
Performer, composer, singer, and musician of Dutch origin who has been living in Italy for 11 years. Born in 1985, from an early age she was part of theatre groups and studied opera, musical theatre, and pop singing.
She began writing songs at the age of 13, and during her theatre degree, she began composing music for theatre. She worked for nine years for a Dutch theatre group as a composer/performer, where she met Anthony Barilla from Houston, with whom she started her art pop music group Merel & Tony.
In 2014, van Dijk settled in Rome, where she developed musical theatre stand-up shows with writer Federica Tuzi and worked on her solo performance Dogana, while writing music for various theatre groups in Italy and the Netherlands.
