Lochvoil Bothy is a modern detached one bedroom cottage in the grounds of Lochvoil House. It is comfortable & well equipped & comprises open plan lounge, kitchen, dining area with TV, table & chairs. The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, washing machine, cooker & oven, kettle & toaster along with a wide selection of utensils, pans, crockery etc. There are double doors which open to a small outside sitting area. The bedroom is light & airy with free standing wardrobe & the large shower room has an electric shower. The Bothy is all electric with off peak radiators. There is private off road parking.
Lochvoil Bothy is located in a quiet residential area of Oban. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the town centre & the ferry terminal where ferries leave for Mull & Iona,Tiree & Coll & Barra. Oban means ‘Little Bay’ in Gaelic. The town offers a variety of restaurants & eateries around the Bay & on the 2 piers. Oban has a particularly good reputation for fish restaurants & these can be sampled at your leisure.
There are many outdoor activities available - walking, climbing, golfing , kayakiing, wild life watching,boat trips, fishing, escorted tours around town to name but a few. Oban distillery visitors centre is popular, as are the wonderful far reaching views from Mc Craig’s Tower & Pulpit Hill.
To the south of Oban there is an area of ancient history, comprising Dunadd, Kilmartin & Carnassery Castle, along with the beautiful areas of Arduane, Croabh Haven & Luing. The ‘Bridge over the Atlantic’ leads to Easdale Island & the historic remains of the slate quarries.
On the road north there are castles, lochs & the dramatic scenery of Glencoe, while to the east lies Loch Awe & the engineering marvel of Cruachan Dam.
Transport links to Oban are good with regular train & bus services. A car, whilst not essential, would help with exploring further afield.
