Oban will celebrate Bonfire Night with its biggest fireworks display ever thanks to Bid4Oban, the town's business improvement organisation, and a £6,000 grant from Scottish Sea Farms.
The fun starts at 6:30pm with charity stalls set up in Station Square. Then, at 7:30pm the show will begin, with the fireworks set off from Northern Lighthouse Board Pier. The best spots to catch the display are Oban town centre, the North Pier and the Esplanade.
Remember, remember the fifth of November...
Bonfire Night, or Guy Fawkes, is a commemoration of the spoiling of a plot to blow up the House of Parliament in 1605. Guy Fawkes was the man caught "red handed" so speak, as he sat on top of a pile of barrels filled with gunpowder. Today, November 5 is considered the start of the festive season, when folks get together around huge bonfires and set off fireworks to bring light to the dark days of winter.
