Oban Winter Festival 18 - 27 November 2016

Welcome to Oban Winter Festival 2016

Back in 2011, a small group of locals decided that the start of winter was no time to hibernate indoors and instead chose to celebrate with an ambitious programme of events to entertain and inspire locals and visitors alike. This team of community based volunteers initially organised a Victorian Market to run alongside a reindeer parade, an ice rink, comedy nights, music workshops for kids, cocktails for grown-ups and a ceilidh or two - all of which were a great success. News spread quickly and the following year people came from further afield to join the festivities.

Now in its 6th year, Oban Winter Festival has grown to accommodate an extensive programme of events aimed at people of all ages. It is a ten day celebration of Oban's unique culture and community with street parades, international and local performing acts, fire art, pipers, lantern parades and family fun.

The theme for this year’s festival is A Taste of Winter and once again the extended programme will also include St Andrew’s Day events.  In celebration of this important national date, a Scottish Food & Craft Market, Haggis Festival, Whisky Festival, Ceilidh and St Andrew’s Day 'Tartan Dash' will also form part of the festivities.

Festival action takes place mainly in the centre of town and getting from place to place is very easy. Discover the great shopping, bars and restaurants that make this town tick, take a tour of the local distillery and sample local malts, or enjoy a relaxing coffee in one of our many cafes while soaking up the beautiful view of the bay.

We can provide all manner of accommodation options for your stay here, from apartments in the town centre, to hotels and intimate bed and breakfasts,  we can recommend some of the finest food and wine establishments that this town boasts - so why not come and join the biggest winter party in the West.

We are waiting to welcome you.
